تحفيز العصب الظرفي عن طريق الجلد – Neuromodulation يتم تحفيز الأمعاء والتحكم فيها من قبل مجموعة من الأعصاب الناشئة عن الجزء السفلي من الحبل الشوكي، وتسمى الضفيرة العصبية العجزية. التعديل العصبي هو تحفيز هذه الأعصاب مع نبضات كهربائية ضعيفة جدا.

Neuromodulation; بعد وضع القطب الكهربائي أو الإبرة، يتم تشغيل البرنامج المناسب وزيادة الجرعة الكهربائية حتى الانتقال إلى dorsiflexion (التجعيد إلى الداخل) من الإبهام على القدم المطبقة أو حتى يشعر بالوخز ويلاحظ على أسفل القدم، تحت الإبهام.
يتم تشغيل الكهرباء وإيقافها تلقائيا لمدة 30 دقيقة، بشكل متقطع، في الموعد المحدد.
يتم تطبيق التعديل العصبي مرة واحدة في الأسبوع لمدة 30 دقيقة، عادة لمدة 8-12 أسابيع في بيئة سريرية تحت إشراف طبيب/ ممرضة. مدة العلاج الأولية (عدد الجلسات – عدد الأسابيع) ومتابعة هذه البرامج تزيد أو تنقص وفقا لخصائص المرض.
